Executive Director Assets & Development
Gemma has worked in the social housing sector for the last 17 years and is experienced in managing a portfolio of mixed use, mixed tenure housing and regeneration projects through the various stages of feasibility, design, procurement and on-site delivery.
In her career, Gemma’s been responsible for the leadership and management of a regional team covering Kent, Surrey, Sussex and the Midlands.
As the Executive Director of Assets and Development, Gemma is responsible for leading and delivering both the Asset Management Strategy and our Development Plan. Whilst championing best practice in building safety, quality design, environmental and community sustainability. Gemma is our Customer Health and Safety Lead at mhs homes (as required by the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023).
She is responsible for keeping abreast and up to date with relevant legislation and planning and preparing to deliver its implementation. As executive lead for existing asset performance and effective development delivery, Gemma will lead on developing clear and robust quality assurance and performance management frameworks whilst holding colleagues, partners and contractors to account to ensure continual performance improvement.
Prior to working in development she held various roles in housing, including in customer services, housing management, performance and supported housing. Her experience in these roles gives a well-rounded knowledge of the housing sector and how the departments support one another to deliver a first class service to our customers.
Gemma likes a challenge and often pushes herself out of her comfort zone. She’s a keen runner and has completed many races and charity events including Brighton Marathon and Tough Mudder. She’s also passionate about animal welfare.
