Sally Ironmonger
Heart of Medway Board Member, and Member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee
Sally has more than 20 years experience of working in Local Government, primarily in Medway. Initially working in housing advice and homelessness services in the early 1990s, she moved on to eventually work in Public Health, as Head of Health Improvement for Medway until taking voluntary redundancy in 2016.
With excellent knowledge and experience in housing and health she has a deep understanding of the role of housing in reducing inequalities and improving health. Having been born in Chatham, living and working in Medway, this means that she has a real insight into the demographics and the culture of the place.
Since ‘retiring’ (not quite the right term!), she has worked as an independent consultant, but has also been able to spend more time on her alternative career, as singer-songwriter, travelling around the country in her camper van, performing at folk clubs and festivals.
Keen to get involved in local community activities, the role at Heart of Medway is a great fit - she can put to good use her health and housing knowledge, skills in strategic planning and service improvement, and a passion for making a positive contribution to the local landscape.
