We've been awarded the RACE Equality Code quality mark

We’re proud to have been awarded the RACE Equality Code quality mark in recognition of the improvements we’re making in race equality.

The RACE Code – which stands for Reporting, Action, Composition and Education – is specifically about increasing diversity in senior leadership and enabling opportunity.

To be awarded the mark, we’ve developed an action plan to make positive changes and create a more inclusive culture across all levels of the organisation.

“We’ve recruited and continue to seek diverse candidates for our board,” explains Louise Humphrey, mhs homes company secretary. “There’s a learning and development plan for all colleagues that’ll help to raise awareness and challenge unconscious bias. It’ll help us to make sure that our service delivery and workplace are fair and inclusive. And we’ve set up an equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) taskforce, chaired by our chief executive, to help us progress our targets.”

To make sure we’re being transparent, we’ll publish our performance towards our goals on our website. There’s still a long way to go, but this award marks an important step in our journey to show that we’re fully committed to race equality.
