We’ve raised £20,000 to help children with cancer and their families
Since January 2022, we’ve been raising money and awareness for World Child Cancer who’ve been our Charity of the Year.
They’re the leading international children’s charity dedicated to addressing the global inequality in childhood cancer care. Founded in 2007, they support 13 programmes in Africa, Asia and Central America.
Jon Rosser CEO from World Child Cancer said: “It is great to have a partnership with the excellent mhs homes for the past year. Staff have been so kind and generous in helping us to fund treatment and care for very desperate children with cancer in Africa and Asia. Many will survive and be able to grow up and live their lives as a result of the great fundraising efforts of the team at mhs homes. Thank you so much.”
The money we’ve raised will be distributed across the World Child Cancer Programmes and used where the need is greatest, helping World Child Cancer to achieve their vision of a world where every child with cancer has equal access to treatment and care.
Ashley Hook, said: “It’s great to know the money we’ve raised will be used to support children and their families who struggle to get the essential treatment they need to survive.”
Throughout the year, our colleagues have hosted cake sales, quizzes, raffles, and even taking on personal challenges like completing the London Marathon and the Kent Classic Bike Ride.
One of our biggest fundraisers was a charity football match between our colleagues and veterans of Chatham Football Club. We managed to raise almost £1,000 and was a great family day out.
Rhys who organised the match said: “I work with our operatives and we all wanted to do something to raise money for our chosen charity. The lads were really up for a friendly, but competitive, football match so we made it happen. The support was brilliant, we had loads of people from the community come and cheer both sides on. It was such a success, we’re planning another one for 2023.”
Some of our other big fundraisers included a charity golf day and a dragon boat race.
We know our fundraising efforts rely on the generosity of our stakeholders too. We’d like to thank them for their generosity and support.
Throughout 2023, we’ll be supporting Making Miracles, a birth trauma and baby bereavement care charity based in Kent.
