Garden competition winners announced
Every year, we recognise the hard work and love that goes into the gardens in our supported living schemes.
We are delighted to be able to announce the winners of the 2024 mhs homes garden competition. This year, judging was made especially difficult by the quality of gardens on show.
Congratulations to the residents of John Coopper House who won ‘best communal garden’, and to Don and Lorna Brown who topped the ‘best bungalow’ category.
Runners up in the communal garden category were Thorndike House, Kelly House, Elizabeth House and Yeoman House.
In the best bungalow / plot category, the runners up were Valarie Ditton John Turner Paul Cornishman, Alan Williams Tanya and Alan Pattenden, and Kevin and Debbie Andrews
Both the winners and runners up received awards and a cash prize. The communal garden winners took home £200 and runners up £100. Meanwhile the bungalow / plot winner received £100 and the runners up £50.
Residents of Melville Court also received a special commendation award for spending considerable time and money creating a wonderful small garden area which has brightened up the communal space for everyone to enjoy.
Chief executive, Ashley Hook, was one of the competition judges. He said: “It’s been a pleasure to see residents using their skills and enthusiasm to transform their outside spaces, putting in many hours of hard graft, commitment and taking real pride in where they live.
“We’ve seen gardens of all sizes and styles and so many creative ideas. A huge well done to everyone who took part.”
