mhs homes raises more than £15,000 for local baby bereavement charity

We're delighted to reveal that in 2023 we raised more than £15,000 for our Charity of the Year, Making Miracles.

Making Miracles is a Kent-based birth trauma and bereavement care charity offering families the support, services and tools they need to help find their ‘new normal’ following trauma and grief.

Over the course of the year, we organised and participated in a range of fundraising events and activities, including a charity football match, the Medway Can challenge, a dragon boat race, Valentine’s Day shop, Hever Castle triathlon and a charity golf day.

On top of this, an office snack fridge, Christmas party and various charity pots, brought the total raised to an incredible £15,338.

The money will go towards helping to support even more families, so they never have to feel alone in their grief.

Ashley Hook, chief executive of mhs homes, said: “We would like to thank everyone who donated as well as all those who took part in our various charity fundraising events throughout the year. Making Miracles is such a fantastic charity, and we are thrilled that we were able to raise more than £15,000 to help them provide even more vital support.”

According to Making Miracles, every year one in four pregnancies sadly end in loss. The charity’s mission is to inform and educate decision-makers to further support families through baby trauma and loss, specifically about the importance of the impact this has on an entire family’s mental health.

Grief is different for everyone, and Making Miracles offers a range of traditional services, from counselling to support groups. From April 2021 to August 2022, they delivered 1,320 free counselling sessions.

Kelly Wells, CEO of Making Miracles, said: “We are thrilled to receive this amazing donation from mhs homes and it will make such a difference to the baby loss community here in Kent who need our support and services. We work really hard to ensure no family has to suffer alone. Thank you also for all involved in the fundraising – we are so very grateful.”
