New community café opens in Sittingbourne

After months of hard work and renovations, Swale Community Care Project (SCCP) has officially opened the doors of its new community café.

The charity welcomed the Mayor of Swale as one of its first customers, as well as colleagues from Trail Group, who had kindly donated their time and materials to renovate the café.

It’s a warm and safe space, providing a focal point for local people and a sense of community. “So far our youngest visitor has been four days old, and our oldest is 99 years old – he’s been coming every day,” says Charity Champion Amanda Marsh.

“The cafe sells affordable food and drinks, with free meals for children and we’re running our food bank from there too. We want this to be a place where people can find support if they need it and someone to talk to. Everyone gets a friendly welcome and we’re so grateful for all the help we’ve been given to get this project up and running.”

If you'd like to visit the new café, you can find it at Heather House, Sittingbourne, ME10 4NN (opposite Borden School). The café is open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 4pm.
