Addressing the barriers to race equality in the workplace

This week it’s Race Equality Week, a UK-wide movement that unites organisations and individuals to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace.

At mhs homes, we’re proud to have been awarded the RACE Equality Code which recognises our commitment to race equality. But we know we’re on a journey and there’s still a long way to go.

As part of our action plan, we’re working towards increasing diversity across our workforce and making sure it’s reflected at all levels of the organisation including on our board and in leadership positions.

We’re driving change through inclusive recruitment, talent management, and succession planning so that every colleague is respected, valued, and provided with equal opportunities to contribute and advance.

Last year, we achieved Housing Diversity Network accreditation which supports our ambition to keep equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) at the top of our agenda and is helping us make a bigger impact.

This includes working to improve the quality of our diversity data so we can identify areas of under-representation or inequalities in our services and our workplace and focus our efforts where they’re needed most.

Led by our EDI taskforce, we’ll continue to tackle inequality, putting inclusion at the heart of everything we do and striving to be better, and do more.
