mhs homes receives silver sustainability award

mhs homes has received a silver award from an independent sustainability scheme, highlighting the progress we're making towards reducing our environmental impact.

The SHIFT accreditation scheme looks at a full range of environmental impacts across 21 criteria including carbon dioxide emissions, water use, landfill waste, biodiversity and response to climate change risks.

Organisations are assigned a bronze, silver, gold or platinum rating which recognises what they have achieved so far and sets targets for future work to help building owners achieve environmental targets.

Following an extensive assessment, we were awarded Silver for performing well in areas such as the energy efficiency of our homes and landlord supplies. We also performed well when it came to office and business travel emissions.

Jade Wilson, sustainability manager at mhs homes, said: “SHIFT Silver for our first year of assessment is a fantastic achievement for mhs. It’s testament to the work that is already going on to reduce our environmental impact and improve the energy efficiency of homes for our customers. But it also demonstrates our commitment to embedding sustainability and working towards our ultimate ambition of net zero.”

The assessment makes a number of recommendations for further improvements and work has already begun to improve data accuracy, provide strong evidence to showcase our sustainability credentials and actively engage with our customers on energy efficiency.
