Sunrise Foyer, Chatham

Sunrise Foyer is a supported housing scheme, which offers 30 modern flats for young people aged between 18 and 25 facing homelessness. The redevelopment includes studio flats, one-bedroom flats and 2 fully accessible bungalows. 24-hour on-site support is included as well as life skills training being offered to the residents too. Communal spaces such as a gym, laundry facilities, landscaped gardens and activity rooms, were all built to the highest standards.

This site was completed in Autumn 2024 by Jenners Contractors – Allocation of residents is already underway.

The unveiling

We had a fantastic turnout of over 40 guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Housing, the Foyer Federation, Medway Council, and other local partners. Councillors Simon Curry and Louwella Prenter were joined by MP Tristan Osborne and leader of Medway Council Vince Maple to officially open the building.

Gemma Hancock, our Executive Director of Assets and Development, explained how collaboration with contractors and stakeholders was key to delivering this incredible project. Thanks to additional funding from the Ministry of Housing, we were able to include even more improvements, ensuring Sunrise Foyer is a welcoming and supportive space for young people in need.

Amy Cheswick, our Executive Director of Customer and Transformation, highlighted the difference supported housing makes — not just by offering a safe place to live but by providing young people with the tools they need to thrive. She explained how much effort goes into creating a secure, nurturing environment and the lasting impact it can have on residents’ futures.
