To help keep you and your family safe, it’s important we inspect and test your electrical installations every four to five years. Doing this testing and inspection gives you the peace of mind that your electrical installation is safe and meets the required standards.

As your landlord, we have a legal duty to carry out this testing and inspection.

It's essential for your own safety to allow us and our contractors access to your home so we can carry out this work.

Our contractors, The Wiggett Group, will write to you to confirm your electric test and inspection appointment. If the appointment date and time isn’t convenient for you, please contact the contractor to rebook. You’ll find the details within the appointment letter.  We offer flexible appointments at a time convenient for you.

Preparing for your electrical test and inspection

  • You must have credit on your electricity key/card or meter
  • You or someone 18 or over will need to be at the property
  • Check the engineer's identification (ID) when they arrive to ensure they are who they say they are
  • Be prepared for your electricity to be switched off for a short period of time during the test and inspection
  • Make sure there is access to the fuse board and all electrical sockets, switches and lights throughout your home
  • Please allow up to 2 hours for the inspection. Please note, in some cases this may take longer. 

What will the engineer do during the inspection?

  • The engineer will carry out checks on electrical sockets, switches and lights throughout your home
  • Complete any essential improvements if needed
  • Identify any upgrades required and arrange for these to be done at a later date if necessary
  • Check the fuse board and all associated wiring
  • Check the expiry date of all smoke alarms in the property and replace these if required
