We regularly inspect your home to ensure it meets health and safety standards, as well as Decent Home standards. This helps keep you and your family safe and comfortable.

Our stock condition surveyors assess the condition of fixtures and fittings, such as windows, roofs, bathrooms, and kitchens. Any areas needing improvement will be noted. These surveys are typically conducted at least once every five years. We’ll contact you to arrange an appointment when your next survey is due.

Why we conduct surveys

Inspections are essential for maintaining the safety and condition of your home. Our stock condition survey reviews the age and state of key components, such as windows, roofs, bathrooms, and kitchens, to determine when they may require replacement.

We also carry out a health and safety assessment to ensure your home is safe for you, your family, and visitors. If any issues are identified, a work order will be raised to address them.

What to expect during the survey

Duration and Equipment: The survey is a visual inspection that lasts approximately 45 minutes, depending on the size of your home. Surveyors will bring their laser measure, tablet, and photo ID. They always carry and display ID, but if you have any concerns, call us on 01634 565333.

Photos and Purpose: Surveyors may take photos of key areas such as windows, kitchens, bathrooms, smoke/heat alarms, and heating systems. These images are used solely to document conditions and plan improvements. Your photos will be handled securely and respectfully.

Focus of the Visit: The survey is focused on the condition of your home, not on your personal habits or tidiness. Our goal is to evaluate the main elements of your home to ensure safety and schedule future improvements.

Access to you home

During the survey, all internal and external areas of your home will be checked, including the kitchen, bathroom, structure, roof, windows, and doors.

Pets and Supervision: For safety reasons, please keep pets in a separate room while the survey takes place. An adult (18+) must be present for the entire duration of the inspection.

Future work and planning

While we cannot confirm any future work during the survey, the information gathered will be added to our database. This helps us plan and schedule renewal work when it’s due. We’ll notify you when work is scheduled for your home.
