A balcony can be a great outdoor space to enjoy. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep you, your family, and your neighbours safe.

Report a problem

Let us know straight away if:

  • You're concerned about the condition of your balcony, railings, or panels

  • Your balcony door or lock is damaged or not working properly

We'll arrange for a member of our repairs team to inspect the issue. You can report a repair here.

What happens next?

If a repair is needed, we'll assess the issue and decide what action is required.

In some cases, we may carry out a temporary repair to make the area safe while further work is arranged.

If there is a serious safety concern, we may need to secure the balcony and restrict access until repairs have been completed.

Using your balcony safely

Always

  • Supervise children and anyone who may be at risk when they are using the balcony

  • Keep furniture, planters, and other items away from balcony edges

  • Use balcony spaces as intended

  • Remember that pigeon netting is not designed to support weight and should not be climbed on or leaned against

Never

  • Store items that could create a fire risk

  • Use barbecues on your balcony

  • Throw or drop cigarettes, litter, or any other items from your balcony or windows
